Now winter is in full swing, many dog owners will be debating whether or not to purchase a winter coat for their furry friend. Although some owners may be hesitant to put clothing on their dog in fear of looking ridiculous, in this day and age it’s not uncommon to see a dog walking down the street in an outfit better than their owners!

Although dogs are born with a coat designed to protect them from the elements, many popular dogs with wool coats or quick growing coats will be regularly groomed to avoid matting and could benefit from extra protection. Equally light bodied breeds, toy dogs or breeds with thin hair may be more comfortable with an added layer, and older dogs who are less mobile may also require more protection throughout the colder months.
