Why Doggy Day-Care is Important
For many of us, the luxury of spending most our days with our dogs isn’t possible. As much as we’d love to take our little companions for long walks every day, keeping them busy, stimulated and well exercised, we, unfortunately, cannot because we need to make a living. It’s not easy saying our goodbyes every morning, knowing that they’ll be alone all day.
For a lot of dogs, especially the more energetic breeds, a garden simply isn’t enough. Unless of course, you live on a farm where there are ample amounts of space for your dog to roam. Alas, over 90% of the United Kingdom’s population live in urban areas. So, the likelihood of anyone reading this article owning a farm is highly unlikely. Besides exercise, dogs are affectionate animals and thrive off having company. They get extremely lonely if left alone all day. They experience separation anxiety. On top of this, when dogs are left alone all day, they battle to develop social skills and routine.
Let’s face it – we also have social lives and can’t always be there for our beloved pets, even after working hours. So that is why we believe that doggy day-care is a necessity for most and we’ll give you the exact reasons why:
Exercise
Doggy day-care is the ideal solution for not being able to give your dog the exercise it needs. At a doggy day-care, dogs are usually allowed to run around and play with other dogs all day! Day-cares are supervised by trained professionals – people who deal and handle hundreds of dogs on a daily basis. So, there is no need to worry about your dear pet’s safety. If your dog has an altercation with another dog, these professionals know how to deal with it in a friendly and loving manner. This is the best way to ensuring that your dog gets mental and physical stimulation on the regular.
Socialisation
Being social is crucial for your canine family members. They need it to be able to remain calm and friendly in a wide array of situations. Having constant human and dog interaction can only be a positive. Try enrolling your pup from an early age if possible. Give your doggy the opportunity to meet and play with others and he or she will be a much happier, fulfilled dog. Most day-cares will have your dog go through a temperament test first and then place your little love ball in a suited play group based on its size and other important aspects.
Boredom relief
A lot of the time, any destruction to your furniture and garden is the result of a bored dog. As mentioned before, canines need mental and physical stimulation. Like us, dogs also suffer from anxiety – their reasons or cause is a little different from ours, simpler if you will. Instead of having to see a psychologist, your dog just needs to be active. It’s as simple as that. Send them to a doggy day-care two or three times a week and you’ll see a stark difference in your pet’s behavioural patterns.
Beneficial to you
Besides the well-being of your dog, we know that it can be a huge stress for dog owner’s when wanting to go out for the day or even go away for a weekend. When you aren’t able to be there for your dog, a day-care or doggy hotel is the perfect place to leave your pet, knowing that they will still receive the love, fun, and exercise that they deserve.
Regardless of your location, there should be plenty of doggy day-cares and dog hotels in and around the area that you live. Give your dog the happiness it deserves during those periods where you unfortunately cant, and whatever you do, don’t let him or her go anywhere without their Torus water bowl!
