Pampered Pooches!

As most of you will know from following me on socials or being around me – I have a HUGE love for dogs, I’m completely dog obsessed, you could definitely say I’m a crazy dog lady…

You’ll have seen lots of photos of my family dog, Fizz over the years who I have had since I was about 13 years old. She’s a 12 year old Bichon Frise – the most cute, chilled out pampered pooch around. Just look at her…

She has gorgeous white fur which in most cases would be an absolute nightmare to keep clean, however, she tends to stay clear of puddles or any sort of mud – I’m convinced she’s a cat stuck in a Bichon’s body. I guess she’s just used to a life of luxury, living with our family we all love to spoil her! I moved to London last year so unfortunately I don’t get to see her as often as I’d like, but when I do take my trip back to Scotland I like to spend lots of time pampering her, taking her walks and feeding her lots of treats.

I live in North London in a nice area with a few different parks around, and one of my lovely friends introduced me to her dog ‘Laika” – named after the first ever dog to orbit the earth! She’s a Pomchi (cross between a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua). She absolutely loves being pampered as well. So, between them both they love their pamper time, especially when it involves cuddles and the best of the best products (they do say that dogs are like their owners!).

The first product I tried (of course) was the Pet Odour Eliminating Boot Room Candle. I love a candle lit around the house, or in the bath and this candle is definitely up there with one of my new favourites. It’s beautifully packaged and comes in a reusable glass jar with a cork lid, the perfect shape for using as a mini flower jar once I’m finished with it too. My candle is camomile, lavender & rose scented and the aroma transports you straight to the spa! The candle also has a crackling wick, which gives you a comforting fireside feel which I absolutely love here in my London flat. The candles are crafted with natural dye-are soy wax and contain zero paraffin/petroleum by-products which means the candle is completely sustainable. I’d really recommend this candle as a gift, even to someone who doesn’t own pets, the smell is dreamy and the packaging is pretty special.

Another product the girls have been lucky enough to add into her routine is the Pet Paw & Nose Balms. Fizz has been using the Smoothing & Nourishing Balm. Just like we all have our daily skin routine, cleanse, tone, moisturise – this product has allowed Fizz to have the smoothest little paws and nose (boop!). It’s packed with nourishing ingredients: Bees Wax, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Avocado Oil, Manuka Honey, Grapeseed Oil & Lavender Oil. I tend to apply some to my own hands and rub a small amount into her paws – and the leftover can be used on your own hands, it’s a win win! Laika was also gifted the First Aid & Ache Balm, which will be perfect for her trips to France, helping to soothe any insect bites she might get on her holidays!

The shampoo bars – they lather up perfectly. They smell absolutely incredible and I was near enough tempted to use one in my own hair (but I refrained). We’ve tried both the Vegan Hemp & Camomile which is ideal for dogs with problem skin, it soothes and calms any flare ups e.g. dandruff or eczema/rosacea. and we also tried the Goats Milk & Lavender shampoo which leaves the coat looking so so silky smooth! If you wish, the shampoo bars can be used in conjunction with your regular dog shampoo too and again, the product is not in a plastic bottle, just the bar which is completely sustainable. I tend to store this in a well-draining soap dish, this just means your bar won’t get soggy after each use and it’ll keep well. Or, you can also purchase shampoo bar nets for pretty cheap online and hang yours over the tap or in the shower.

These products are the paw-fect treat for you & your pup, and more than ever I’ve found myself shopping online (and locally) during lockdown as we haven’t been able to get out as much recently.
