Queen’s Award Winner
Three ex GB athletes win Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade
We are delighted to celebrate today, 21st April 2016, not only the Queen’s Birthday but also Dog Rocks UK Distribution Ltd being one of the select businesses recognised as winners of the 2016 Queen’s Award for Enterprise – the UK’s highest accolade for business success.
Our award received for International Trade is in recognition of achieving increased year on year export figures, product innovation, sustainability and bringing to international markets unique and where possible natural solutions for pet parents.
“It was a complete surprise when the email popped into my inbox signifying a win; a very welcome surprise! It’s an auspicious date being the Queen’s 90th Birthday and we are delighted to have cause to celebrate as well! Dog Rocks began online in 2006 with just one product because as country people we wanted the best natural solutions to help us fulfil the joy pet ownership brings.” Carina Evans, CEO.
Dog Rocks Distribution Ltd is owned by three ex GB athletes who have transferred their skills from sport to business; Andrew Hine and Nick Evans having represented GB during their careers playing International Polo and Carina Evans having represented GB as a World Cup Skeleton athlete.
Dog Rocks helps stop pet urine burning the grass. Thought to have been first recommended by an Aboriginal gardener, Dog Rocks is mined from Australia and is the company’s lead product. Having moved into the North American pet market in 2012 the company went from being a team of 2 to a team of 6 full time employees in the space of 4 months. They now have 20 product lines including the award winning Torus Bowl in their portfolio and continue to be presented with international trade opportunities on a regular basis. The team specialise in the UK, European, Australian and North American Pet Markets. Dog Rocks have experienced rapid change in a short time and continue to grow. They place strong emphasis on employing locally talented individuals to join their team.
“My father was a Gurkha, my grandfather was SOE in the 2nd World War so you see a strong work ethic is paramount. Second is a willing and honest attitude and the rest usually then falls into place. We have built our business around those two core values and as a result we have experienced the aforementioned growth in International Trade to secure us this great honour received today.” Carina Evans.
