Spring’s here…and we’re feeling the lawn love!

By Toast / Blog / No Comments / April 22, 2022

At Dog Rocks, we’re proud (and very happy) to have customers from all over the UK, Europe, the USA, and Canada. Keen gardeners and lawn-lovers everywhere use our tried and tested product to help keep their green spaces healthy and free from the urine burn marks caused by four-legged family members.

While lots of our north American customers are already adding our dog-safe igneous rocks to their pet’s drinking water, those of us living in the UK and Europe are only just getting ready to grab the Dog Rocks…and future proof our lawns with some much-needed post-winter tlc.

Time for a trim…?

Green space can end up looking a bit jaded after the wet and cold winter months. But just as Spring is the time we begin to welcome the sound of birdsong in the mornings, it’s also when your grass literally springs into life again.

As Spring sets in and the weather warms up, resist the urge to mow like mad! In fact, if the ground is very wet or there’s a late April frost, it can be the last thing you want to do. Our top tip is to exercise gardeners’ restraint and be gentle with the first few grass cuts of the season. Instead of setting your blade too low, keep it high and trim off the top third of your grass growth only.

You may not get the ‘close cut’ aesthetic you’re after, but this way, your freshly coiffed lawn will have a few days to recover before you cut it again; this time with the blades on a lower setting. Once you’re past the initial couple of trims, you’ll find your grass should only need cutting about once or twice a fortnight at this time of year.
